{"id":95485,"date":"2022-05-30T01:46:50","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T00:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=95485"},"modified":"2022-05-30T01:46:50","modified_gmt":"2022-05-30T00:46:50","slug":"efcc-arrests-ex-zamfara-governor-yari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-arrests-ex-zamfara-governor-yari\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Arrests Ex-Zamfara Governor Yari"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1734201301887840066\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former governor of Zamfara State, Abdul\u2019aziz Yari.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nSources within the antigraft agency said the former governor was arrested for his alleged role in the N84 billion fraud involving a former Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmad Idris.<\/p>\n<p>He was said to have been picked up at about 5pm on Sunday for allegedly benefitting to the tune of N22 billion from the N84 billion which the former AGF reportedly paid to one Akindele.<\/p>\n<p>According to the sources, the anti-graft agency also arrested one Anthony Yaro who is the Chairman and Managing Director of Finex Professional \u2013 the company through which former Governor Yari allegedly benefited from the fund.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Former Governor Yari\u2019s arrest came barely a day after he won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for one of the three senatorial district seats of Zamfara State in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Pointblanknews.com had reported that Mr Idris was arrested in mid-May over allegations of money laundering and diversion of public funds in excess of N80 billion.<\/p>\n<p>He was reportedly intercepted in Kano State by EFCC operatives and flown to Abuja for interrogation.<\/p>\n<p>Amid controversy trailing his arrest, the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, suspended Mr Idris from office.<\/p>\n<p>The government has since appointed Mr Anamekwe Nwabuoku as the acting Accountant General of the Federation.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former governor of Zamfara State, Abdul\u2019aziz Yari.
