{"id":95609,"date":"2022-06-01T09:45:02","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T08:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=95609"},"modified":"2022-06-01T09:49:15","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T08:49:15","slug":"imo-east-senate-opara-asks-apc-to-conduct-fresh-proper-primaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/imo-east-senate-opara-asks-apc-to-conduct-fresh-proper-primaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Imo East senate:\u00a0Opara rejects consensus, asks APC to conduct fresh, proper primaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; Says concocted figures were allocated him<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A frontline senatorial aspirant in the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imo East district, Dr Kemdi Opara, has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC to intervene and reorder a fresh primaries to the Imo East senatorial district to avoid any major backlash.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aspirant also described as shameful that concocted figure allocated to him, warning that such a charade will not be allowed to stand.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement on Wednesday, Dr. Opara said he is disassociating himself and his team from the sham, show of shame that went on in the dead of the night, termed Imo East senatorial primaries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;As a people with good conscience, prized reputation, good moral standards and strong integrity, we can&#8217;t be involved in such a brazen impunity and wanton theft of the people&#8217;s will, all in the name of politics, no matter what is at stake.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Politics should not be associated with anything bad, immoral, indecent and evil.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;A charade that has no venue, no accredited delegates, no agents, no returning officer cannot be called an election to produce a senatorial candidate for the elitist people of owerri zone.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Please ignore the concocted figure allotted to me. I didn&#8217;t participate!<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We therefore join other patriotic voices to condemn such art in its entirety. In the same vein, we call the leadership of our party APC to intervene and rescue our party from this eminent extinction rising from injustices meted on our members, here and there.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We call on them to come down and conduct a proper primaries devoid of favouritism, hand picking, inducements, imposition and foisting a candidate against the wishes and aspirations of members. Rather they should come and conduct an exercise that will not only be free, fair and credible, but will be all embracing for survival of our nascent democracy.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Let me also use this opportunity to thank my teeming supporters and delegates who followed us till the end. Please remain calm, maintain peace.
