{"id":97052,"date":"2022-07-19T08:42:47","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T07:42:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=97052"},"modified":"2022-07-19T08:42:47","modified_gmt":"2022-07-19T07:42:47","slug":"osun-election-apc-reaping-from-bola-iges-murder-soyinka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/osun-election-apc-reaping-from-bola-iges-murder-soyinka\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun Election: APC Reaping From Bola Ige\u2019s Murder \u2014 Soyinka"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1738763479630546608\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described the defeat of Osun State Governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state, Gboyega Oyetola, as \u201cthe voice of Bola Ige resounding from beyond the grave\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nSoyinka said the defeat of Governor Oyetola was a lesson that \u201cspeaks to other zones of rightful public expectations, equity, and just entitlements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said this in a statement he personally issued.<\/p>\n<p>The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, had emerged as the winner of the poll, polling 403,371 votes, while Oyetola of the APC garnered 375,027 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Kehinde Atanda, came third with 10,104 votes, while Lasun Yusuff of the Labour Party garnered 2729 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the development, Soyinka said: \u201cThose who conspired to catapult his destroyers to unmerited national prominence, to insult the memories of the living, and jettison basic ethical constraints, have been justly served.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a lesson that speaks to other zones of rightful public expectations, equity, and just entitlements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne despairs but continues to hope that there are still receptive minds in which such lessons will germinate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we may adapt a wise saying from the ancients: the beast of burden, nicknamed Equity, ambles its mined course to destination but, sooner or later, that donkey arrives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Soyinka had in April said the endorsement of a former deputy governor of Osun State, Sen.
