{"id":97147,"date":"2022-07-20T16:57:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T15:57:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=97147"},"modified":"2022-07-20T16:57:37","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T15:57:37","slug":"electricity-grid-crashes-to-zero-again-one-month-after","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/electricity-grid-crashes-to-zero-again-one-month-after\/","title":{"rendered":"Electricity Grid Crashes To Zero Again One Month After"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nigerian electricity grid crashed on Wednesday to zero megawatts after a fault that threw the entire country into blackout.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThis is coming 38 days after a similar collapse on June 12, and just 20 days after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) activated a partial contract order for the Nigerian electricity market to guarantee 5,000MW and at least 4,000MW.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest system collapse, being the fifth this year, occured around 12 noon when the grid went blank.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nAs of 11am, data from the System Operations section of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) indicated that the grid generation had dropped from over 3,000MW earlier to 2,788.90MW with 19 active generation companies (GenCos).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe highest generation came from Delta Gas with 453MW and Azura with 448MW while Dadin Kowa had dropped to zero point.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nSo far, TCN, the grid manager was yet to announce the immediate cause of the grid collapse.<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian electricity grid crashed on Wednesday to zero megawatts after a fault that threw the entire country into blackout.
