{"id":97507,"date":"2022-07-30T09:23:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-30T08:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=97507"},"modified":"2022-07-30T09:23:15","modified_gmt":"2022-07-30T08:23:15","slug":"inec-debunks-invasion-carting-away-of-enrollment-machines-by-thugs-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/inec-debunks-invasion-carting-away-of-enrollment-machines-by-thugs-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC Debunks Invasion, Carting Away Of Enrollment Machines By Thugs In Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1739761532788795029\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State said that thugs did not cart away its voter enrollment machines in Surulere as reported in some sections of the media.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nSome online media on Friday reported that thugs invaded INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centre situated at St. Bridget Catholic Church ljesha, in Surulere, and catered away INEC enrollment machines.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nReacting to the development, INEC\u2019s Public Relations Officer in Lagos state, Mrs Adenike Oriowo disclosed that though the exercise was disrupted because of the surge, no machine was stolen.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cThere were issues in the said CVR centre but orderliness was restored and the exercise continued smoothly.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cWe have moved the registration in that centre to another polling unit in the area, and our officials have continued with the registration.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cPeople should be patient. We shall register as many people as possible. If people continue to disrupt the process, the opportunity to register more people before the deadline will be interrupted.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cOur commitment is to register as many people as possible and we will try to do so within the limited time,\u201d the INEC spokesperson said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nOriowo, who frowned at the last-minute rush by many applicants, said the exercise had been on since June 2021 and many people did not take advantage but waited till the deadline.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cAs it is, INEC started this process over a year ago. The surge we are experiencing in the last few weeks is expected, but people should as well be patient.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cThe commission will do everything possible to register as many people as possible.
