{"id":98451,"date":"2022-08-22T08:20:45","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T07:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=98451"},"modified":"2022-08-22T08:20:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T07:20:45","slug":"353-prisoners-on-death-row-200-serving-life-imprisonment-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/353-prisoners-on-death-row-200-serving-life-imprisonment-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"353 Prisoners On Death Row, 200 Serving Life Imprisonment In Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>No fewer than 353 inmates are currently on death row at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The spokesman of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS ), Mr Rotimi Oladokun,disclosed this.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to him, about 210 inmates are also serving life jail terms.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Father turns daughter to prostitute, impregnates teenager<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He explained that there were five custodial centres in Lagos namely, Ikoyi, Badagry, Kirikiri Female, Kirikiri Medium and Kirikiri Maximum.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said that the Ikoyi Custodial Centre was built to accommodate 800 inmates. However, it currently hosts no fewer than 2,400 inmates.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe Kirikiri Maximum Custodial Centre, built with capacity for 1,006 inmates now houses about 2,100 inmates,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Oladokun said that the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre which was built to host 5,930 inmates, has less inmates.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He explained that the offences committed by the inmates on death row varied.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe offences include armed robbery; murder; treason; fabricating false evidence, leading to conviction to death of an innocent person; aiding suicide of a child or lunatic and Kidnapping, among others.<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 353 inmates are currently on death row at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre.
