{"id":98666,"date":"2022-08-27T10:56:46","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T09:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=98666"},"modified":"2022-08-27T10:56:46","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T09:56:46","slug":"nbc-backtracks-suspend-revocation-of-licences-of-53-indebted-broadcast-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/nbc-backtracks-suspend-revocation-of-licences-of-53-indebted-broadcast-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"NBC Backtracks, Suspend Revocation Of Licences Of 53 Indebted Broadcast Stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1742303400643733171\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has suspended the revocation of licenses of broadcast stations who have failed to renew them.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">NBC Director-General, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, said this in a statement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The National Broadcasting Commission on Friday, August 19th, 2022, issued a shutdown notice to licenses that are indebted to the Commission,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Following the ultimatum, the Commission received positive responses from the debtor Licensees, including big players in the broadcast industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n&#8220;Sequel to a follow-up meeting held with Executives of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), and other critical Stakeholders in the industry, the Commission has decided to temporarily suspend the shutdown of the indebted Broadcast stations all over the Country.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201dWe express our profound appreciation to the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, the affected licensees and Broadcast Stakeholders for their responses and interventions. We, specifically, thank DAAR Communications Ltd and Silverbird TV\/Rhythm FM for their responses.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The Commission is not unaware of the difficulties this shutdown must have caused the operators and other stakeholders, but must state that the Commission will always operate within the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap.
