{"id":98699,"date":"2022-08-29T12:24:11","date_gmt":"2022-08-29T11:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=98699"},"modified":"2022-08-29T12:24:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T11:24:11","slug":"youths-attack-doctors-nurses-over-medical-outreach-in-abia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/youths-attack-doctors-nurses-over-medical-outreach-in-abia\/","title":{"rendered":"Youths attack doctors, nurses over medical outreach in Abia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Medical Doctors and nurses yesterday escaped death in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area,Abia State, as youths numbering over 300 stormed the venue of a free medical outreach and chased away patients who had gathered for the event.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The free medical outreach is sponsored by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Prof.Greg Ibe.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The armed youths\u00a0 stopped the medical personnel from gaining entry into the Abayi Community hall, venue of the medical outreach.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Eyewitnesses told Pointblanknews.com that the youths claimed that they had earlier booked the venue for a celebration of New Yam festival.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">However, when the youths displayed the banner for the new yam festival,it was discovered that the event was slated for September 1st, 2022.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Most of the irate youths were identified as supporters of the YPP governorship candidate,Mr. Nana Nwafor, who nails from Osisioma Ngwa LGA.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Coordinator of the Prof. Gregory Ibe medical outreach, Dr.Ojum Ekeoma Ogwo, said that all appeals to the youths\u00a0 to allow the medical personnel entry to the hall to attend to the\u00a0 patients who were already, did not yield fruit.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He wondered that even the poor health conditions of the patients could not make the thugs to change their stance.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said; &#8220;The youths frustrated every effort to resolve the issue.They claimed that they were directed by a governorship candidate\u00a0 to attack the medical team if they insisted on continuing with the exercise.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Pointblanknews.com further gathered that the medical team later withdrew to a safe place in Aba,but later cancelled the exercise.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Expressing his disappointment over the incident,Ogwo lamented that politicians out of desperation for power have continued to endanger lives of their subjects and described it as politics taken too far.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ogwo disclosed that over 10,000 patients from 12 LGAs had benefited from the exercise.<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medical Doctors and nurses yesterday escaped death in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area,Abia State, as youths numbering over 300 stormed the venue of a free medical outreach and chased away&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":67656,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-98699","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-other-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
