{"id":99557,"date":"2022-09-22T16:20:13","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T15:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=99557"},"modified":"2022-09-22T20:11:42","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T19:11:42","slug":"court-sentences-ex-chinese-senior-official-to-death-for-16m-bribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/court-sentences-ex-chinese-senior-official-to-death-for-16m-bribe\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Sentences Ex-Chinese Senior Official To Death For $16m Bribe"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Former Chinese senior official Fu Zhenghua on Thursday was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for taking bribes worth more than 117 million yuan (16.76 million U.S. dollars) and bending the law for personal gains.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Intermediate People\u2019s Court of Changchun in northeast China\u2019s Jilin Province established that Fu, took bribes by abusing power in various positions he held between 2005 and 2021.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fu, was a former deputy head of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People\u2019s Political Consultative Conference.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The court also found that Fu, when working as head of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau from 2014 to 2015, shielded his younger brother who was suspected of serious crimes from investigation and prosecution.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fu was deprived of his political rights for life, and all his personal assets were confiscated, the court said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>However, the sum of bribes Fu had taken was massive, and his crimes caused a heavy loss to the interests of the state and people, said the court.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, a lenient sentence was granted, considering that Fu had confessed to his crimes and showed repentance and had been cooperative in returning his illegal gains.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After the two-year reprieve for his death sentence, Fu\u2019s sentence can be commuted to life in prison in accordance with the law, but no further reduction or parole shall be given to him, the court said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Chinese senior official Fu Zhenghua on Thursday was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for taking bribes worth more than 117 million yuan (16.76 million U.S. dollars) and&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":99558,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-99557","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
