{"id":99825,"date":"2022-09-30T01:06:03","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T00:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=99825"},"modified":"2022-09-30T01:06:03","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T00:06:03","slug":"pdp-refutes-bribery-allegations-says-monies-returned-were-housing-allowance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/pdp-refutes-bribery-allegations-says-monies-returned-were-housing-allowance\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP refutes bribery allegations, says monies returned were housing allowance\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the news making round alluding strange and unfounded motives to the Housing Allowance duly approved and paid to NWC members and staff of the Party are untrue<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba said the huge money was indeed the Housing Allowance, an entitlement duly approved and paid to national officials and staff of the Party amounted to bribery; and not bribe as alleged.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, &#8220;For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP states in an unequivocal term that no funds were paid into the account of any member of the NWC as bribe for any purpose whatsoever for that matter.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;To set the record straight, the Housing Allowance being referred to went through the Due Process of the Party in line with the Conditions of Service and Entitlement of the Staff and Principal Officers of the Party.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;If any individual, for any reason decides to return money duly approved and paid, such does not in any way suggest that the money was paid as bribe or indicate that it was illegitimate or unlawfully paid.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;A bribe is defined as \u201cmoney or any other valuable consideration given or promised with a view to corrupting the behavior of a person especially in that person\u2019s performance as a public official\u2026\u201d.
