MarketBeat List: Q2’s 10 Best and 10 Worst S&P Stocks So Far

This just came over the transom from the good folks over at S&P, a list of the leaders and laggards for the S&P 500 index thus far through the second quarter. Massey Energy, owner of the mine at the center of the April 5 West Virginia accident that killed 29 miners, is the worst-performing stock.

The best performing was the REIT Apartment Investment & Management Co., which as you might imagine, invests in and manages apartments.

Investors seem to be betting on a rebound in the hard-hit multifamily housing sector as the economy improves. Other plays on real estate such as Equity Residential and Avalonbay have done well for the quarter, as have regional banks like Zions Bancorp. and Huntington Bancshares.

Anyway, we thought our readers might like a quick look at some of what’s working and what hasn’t been.
