Ondo lays Gani Fawehinmi’s centre on birthday on April 22

In fulfillment of the promise made by Ondo state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to establish a world-class Diagnostic Centre in memory of the late Legal Icon, Chief Gani Oyesola Fawehinmi, arrangements have been concluded to lay the foundation of the Centre on April 22 nd this year which coincides with the birthday of the late legal luminary in Ondo town.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko disclosed this in his on Friday office while signing a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the smooth take-off of the centre between the state government and Mecure Healthcare Limited.
The Governor, who added that the state government’s counterpart contribution has been made available with other necessary preliminaries taken care off, including land preparation, noted that an endowment fund and Board of Trustees would be established for the operation of the Centre.
According to Dr Mimiko, provisions would be made to take care of the poor who are in need of the service of the centre in line with the vision of late Chief Fawehinmi to ensure the emancipation of the poor masses in the country.
His words “I want to assure you that this Centre, will be one of the best in the country and one to recon with in the world”.
“Our dream is that by the time the first phase of this project is completed, you will see that the Lagos centre will be running after ours. Our people deserve the best that is available anywhere in the world” said the Governor.
He noted that the proposed emergency medical service with trauma centre would be located near the diagnostic centre for the people to receive quality service.
He pointed out that the new Mother and Child Hospital established by his administration has recorded the influx of patients from both far and near, including those in the private hospitals.
Earlier, the Chief Consultant to Mecure Healthcare Limited, Dr Leke Pitan, disclosed that the centre would be equipped with modern facilities that will enhance exchange of ideas and expertise globally through tele-medicine.
Dr. Leke Pitan added that the centre would not only be the best in the country, but among the best in the world.
