For fear of being exposed and ridiculed politically, Governor Isa Yuguda may have ordered his ex-wife Mariya A.D Rufai to be placed on surveillance.

Yuguda sent his ex-wife who is also a former wife to Nigeria Billionaire, Aliko Dangote packing in June 2010 over what a source described as irreconcilable differences.

Pointblanknews.com gathered from sources within Bauchi government house that Governor Yuguda, an in-law to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua have not been comfortable with his estranged wife over what he considered as her “very close relationship” with the Secretary to Government, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed.

Governor Yuguda is interested in contesting for a second term but sees the Secretary of Government as a major obstacle in his quest and as such is willing to do anything possible to keep her out of his way, a source hinted Pointblanknews.com

“He is very desperate and he sees her as capable of spoiling his chances for a second term. He has just directed to people to keep a close watch on her and I would not be surprise if he has not bugged her phone lines,” a source hinted.

According to the source, “Mariya knows a lot of the Governor’s dealings and she could use her connection to work against his chances in 2011.”

Mariya, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs is daughter of second Republic Senator, Senator A.D Rufai and she is also very close to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Alhaji Bala Mohammed. The FCT Minister is also not in good terms with Yuguda.

The Bauchi Governor’s ex-wife was not at the burial ceremony of late President Yar’Adua. She was said to have travelled to Germany of a medical trip. Notwithstanding, Governor Yuguda who had recently married Nafisat, one of Yar’Adua’s daughters was said to have been irked and insisted on terminating the marriage.
