Bomb explosion rocks Delta VIP Lodge
A bomb explosion that smashed a part of the Delta state overnment House, Asaba, ‘VIP' lodge yesterday caused chaos as government workers and visitors ran for
safety.
The explosion which is the second target at the government properties this year,
was confirmed by Sunny Ogefere, the Chief Press Secretary to the state's
Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan. The official, however, claimed there was no
casualty in the incident which caused staff to flee their offices.
In a press statement Mr. Ogefere said "At about 3pm this afternoon there was an
explosion at the Asaba Guest House Asaba, a commercial outfit of the Delta State
Government located near the Government House. Two of the rooms upstairs were
damaged from the impact of the explosion. There were no injuries and no
casualties recorded."
Suspicion
Sources said that a group yet to be identified has allegedly issued a warning to
Mr. Uduaghan to stop the mismanagement of the state's resources or face its
wrath. It is gathered the group has also warned the governor not to seek
reelection.
Shortly after the blast, security operatives sealed up the premises restricting
everyone including reporters from entering the premises.The state Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), Charles Muka, an assistant superintendent of Police
who was seen at the scene of the incident also refused to comment on matter. |
