Ekiti, Police warn against breach of public peace
Ekiti State government has asked the residents to go about their normal
business activities without fear or intimidation, warning that the
government will not hesitate to apply the law on anyone or group of
persons who threaten public peace
Reacting to threats by members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to
cause mayhem at the 16 local government secretariats on assumption of the
newly sworn-in care taker committees in the state today, the Secretary to
the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Gani Owolabi, urged the new council
bosses not to use force to retrieve government properties from the ousted
officials even in the face of provocation
He urged them to apply the rule of law in the face of illegalities by
former officials to forestall any attempt to exploit the process to cause
confusion in the state
In another development, the Ekiti State Police Command through the Police
Public Relations Officer, Muhammed Jimoh, an Assistant Superintendent of
Police (ASP), said the command was in possession of intelligence on the
activities of some elements bent on destabilizing the peace of the state
He assured members of the public of safety of their lives and properties
and urged the residents to reports any suspicious moves capable of
breaching public peace to the law enforcement agents.
The police also warned the residents that security agents will not
hesitate to deal with any group or persons who employ self-help in
addressing whatever grievances they have.
