Pa Enahoro Dies

Frontlile politician and one of those who fought for Nigeria's independence, Pa Anthony Enahoro died this morning at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) at the age of 87.

Pa Enahoro is credited for moving the motion that gave Nigeria's independence in 1960. He later led and supported pro-democracy movement in Nigeria. He was a leader of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) that fought the military government of the late Sani Abacha.

Until his death Pa Enahoro led PRONACO, a group seeking for the convocation of a sovereign national conference to produce a new, people oriented constitution for the country as well as a coalition of opposition parties to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, the Mega Party.

o fell into coma in October and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the UBTH.
