UBA retains Oyo Bankers' Cup
UNITED Bank for Africa(UBA) has won the second edition of Oyo state Bankers' Football Fiesta for the second time, having won the first edition last year.
UBA defeated Intercontinental bank 3-0 via penalties after playing a goalless draw at regulation time, in a highly-contested final match played at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan over the weekend.
In a chat with Tribunesports after the final match, captain of UBA team, Dayo Okewole, said "I feel elated and give glory to God for winning this competition for the second time.I thank all my teammates for their efforts and the management of UBA for the moral and financial support given to us while the competition lasted. By the grace of God next year, we will come here and lift the trophy again."
In the third place final, last year's finalist, Skye bank beat Oceanic bank by 2-0 to win the bronze medal, While Wasiu Rufai won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as consolation for Interontinental bank.
The highest goal scorer award goes to Fagboun Adewuyi of UBA who also won it last year. ETB won the Most Discipline team award, while the Best Behaved Team award goes to FCMB.
