Nwodo regains position as PDP Chairman, takes charge of Convention

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Okwesileze Nwodo who was yesterday sacked by an Enugu based High Court has regained his position.

Chief Nwodo’s lawyers led by former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe’s University, Professor Illochi Okafor, SAN, were sighted at the Enugu High Court as early as 8am Nigeria time to seek for the vacation of the court order.

Nwodo regained his position after the court vacated its earlier order banning the PDP chairman from “parading himself as the party’s chairman.”

Soon after the court vacated the order, Chief Nwodo swiftly drove to the convention ground at the Eagles Square Abuja and took over from the Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed, Deputy National Chairman of the PDP who was conducting affairs of the convention.

 

Nwodo’s arrival caused jubilation among the President Goodluck Jonathan’s camp at the convention because the Deputy National chairman of the PDP is regarded as a “die hard” Atiku Abubakar loyalist
