NNPC moves to ensure adequate supply of kerosene
…Pumps 50 million litres into market
In a bid to put to rest the reported kerosene scarcity being experienced in some parts of the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, through its subsidiary the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Limited, PPMC, has injected 50 million additional litres of Household kerosene into the market.
The Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma disclosed this Wednesday in Abuja.
Dr. Ajuonuma revealed that 18 million litres of kerosene was loaded out of NIPCO for the Independent Marketers, 12.2 million litres out of Capital Oil for the NNPC Retail stations and 17.4 million litres were being pumped to Mosimi depot from Atlas Cove for onward supply to Ibadan, Ore, Ilorin and its environs.
“I want to assure consumers of Household Kerosene across the country that the NNPC has injected more than enough of the product into the market and they should desist from panic buying. Already, about 1,446 trucks of kerosene has been trucked into the market and this surpasses the national daily consumption figure of 8-10 million litres.
The NNPC spokesman added that with the re-streaming of all the three refineries of Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries, the purported scarcity of the product will soon be a thing of the past.
He observed that the Corporation maintains zero tolerance of scarcity of all petroleum products and advised consumers of kerosene not to resort on panic buying.
