The Contractor handling the Asaba Township Stadium , Stabilini Visionini has been given one week to make satisfactory progress or face sanction from the the State Government.
The State Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan who gave the order while inspecting the Stadium regretted that the project which was supposed to have been completed two years ago has so much left to be done. He therefore charged the Contractor to double effort and make good progress within one week or face appropraite sanction.
His words “You have to be serious because there are many things not done yet.Unless you (the contractor) double your effort and make reasonable progress in one week, I will be forced to take a drastic decision ”
He pointed to the field and roofing which has not been done and wondered the length of time it will take the Contractor to complete the job. A representative of the Contractor Engr Imad Enstabilini tried in vain to explain reasons for the delay but could not convince the Governor.
Engr Enstabilini attributed the delay in the completion of the project to the inability of the company to receive the roofing sheet and other equipment ordered for. He however appealed to the Governor to give his company two weeks to enable it mobilize and complete the project.
In another development the State Cenotaph located in Asaba may be expanded to accommodate more people particularly during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential rally billed fro next week.
The State Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan who said this while exchanging views with the State PDP Chairman, Barrister Peter Nwaboshi at the Cenotaph said there was urgent need to expand it. The Governor who was at the Cenotaph to inspect it was optimistic that the expansion will go a long way to provide a good outdoor avenue for non sporting event.
The Governor later visited the Jonathan Sambo Campaign Headquarters while he gave a pass mark to the Contractor handling the project, Dr Uduaghan described the edifice as beautiful and befitting.
It would be recalled that last week , the State Governor terminated the contract for the construction of the Sapele township stadium for non-performance even after full payment of the contract sum by the Government.
