The man alleged to have collected money from market women to facilitate loan is neither a government employee nor aide of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, it has been said.

Eni Akinsola, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Print Media, said yesterday that the alleged fraudster; Mr. Samuel Babayomi is not in any way an aide of the Governor. "In fact, the man who has since been apprehended by security agencies has since confirmed that he acted on his own and not on behalf of the State Government," Akinsola said.

Reports last week had claimed the man was an aide of the governor, thereby generating concerns from friends and citizens of the State.

"All facilities that have been granted by the Mimiko administration either to farmers, artisans, market women and all others running into million were without any payment from the beneficiaries to the government. We have always warned that no citizen should pay monies for these initiatives designed to better the lots of the people.

Not only was government surprised to read the story but was sure it could not have been any of the aides of the Governor since the punishment for any such infractions are all too clear, Akinsola said.

While confirming that the suspect has been arrested by security agencies, Akinsola said government will ensure that every penny he collected from the unsuspecting citizens will be recovered using the instrumentalities of the law.
