Presidential Poll: Ex-Militants want Nigerians to vote Jonathan
…Say he has shown capacity to lead
Ahead of Saturday’s crucial presidential elections, a group of ex-militants has called on Nigerians to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan as a guarantee for national stability and steady economic progress.
The group operating under the aegis of Network for the Defence of Democracy and Good Governance (NDDGG), said Nigerians should at this point vote proven individual capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy as against ethnic and party affiliations.
It said Jonathan has, in his short spell in the saddle, shown how a leader could combine the traits of humility and maturity to steer the ship of state to fruition.
The group of repentant militants, who spoke through its National Cordinator, Sobomabo Jackrick, at a news conference in Abuja, said the time has come for eligible voters to cast their votes for individual capability irrespective of party affiliations.
It said last week’s National Assembly elections which was applauded by Nigerians and the international community was an indication of what Jonathan would do for the country in the next four years if elected into office.
The ex-militants made reference to the improvement in power supply and availability of petroleum products as well as his commitment to providing quality education and creating jobs for the unemployed in the country.
“Fellow Nigerians, the time has come for us to put party and ethnic affiliations aside and vote for the a man who has demonstrated his capacity to lead the most populous black nation on earth combining the rare traits of humility, maturity
and fear of God to deliver democracy dividends.
