The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has urged its many supporters especially Ndigbo who want to travel for the Easter celebration to shelve such plan in order for them to vote for Governor Raji Fashola on Tuesday, 26th April. The party said that such enormous sacrifice is justified by the wonderful works Governor Fashola has been doing in Lagos for the past four years and to reward hard work and dedication.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, the party says it is natural for some of its members and supporters to plan to travel at this great season but that it would be better they sacrifice such travels to shower Fashola with the endorsement he needs to make Lagos a better and more livable place for everybody. It assures Ndigbo and other ethnic groups in Lagos that their interests would be best served with this important endorsement for performance and good works for the benefits would last longer than this moment.

“At such a time as Easter, we note that Ndigbo travel in large numbers to celebrate with their kiths and kin in Igbo land. Being very great travelers, we are quite sure that many Igbo are planning to travel this Easter period. We know that many Igbo have made arrangements to celebrate the great feast with their people at home but we appeal to them to stay back and vote for their much beloved action governor on Tuesday, April 26, to demonstrate their profound support for the wonderful work he has been doing in Lagos these past four years. We urge Igbo to mobilize in great numbers to cast their support and votes for Fashola for the great way he has shown the new grounds that are possible with governance in Nigeria.

“We want to remind Ndigbo that Fashola has made life in Lagos easier with the hood roads, the vastly improved security, the well funded Medicare, good schools, efficient transport system and these and many other gigantic achievements have impacted on the lives of all who live in Lagos; Ndigbo inclusive. We want to remind them that Governor Fashola’s regime has kept faith with his campaign promise to make Lagos a livable place for all Lagosians, irrespective of tribe, tongue or religion. We therefore appeal to Igbo to sacrifice travelling this Christmas to be part of the grand show of support for performance by voting for Governor Fashola’s continuation in office next week. We want to let them know that Governor Fashola appreciates the support of Ndigbo and other ethnic groups in Nigeria and will greatly appreciate their mass votes on Tuesday.

“Lagos ACN is urging the generality of Ndigbo not to be misled by political profiteers who have nothing to offer but are now pandering reckless rumour to divert the votes of Ndigbo in Lagos. We want to let you all know that these are dancers of fortune who want to ruin our collective future in Lagos for their selfish interests. we urge Ndigbo not to allow political profiteers to waste their future but should be part of the grand endorsement Fashola is enjoying all over the country for his wonderful performance in Lagos these past four years. We therefore urge all Igbo in Lagos to stay back and do this wonderful work of political endorsement through casting their votes to show their approval of Governor Fashola on April 26. We assure them that the benefits from such sacrifice will last them a lifetime in a more secured, improved and working Lagos that will form the job content of Fashola in the next four years.”
