Nine banks namely Zenith Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa, Spring Bank, First City Monument Bank, Oceanic Bank, Afribank, Bank PHB, FinBank and Fidelity Bank had frozen the accounts of the government in them on the orders of the state governor-elect, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Ruling on an ex-parte motion, the court presided over by Justice I.O. Agugua restrained the banks, their agents, privies, or servants from continuing to deny the state government access to its accounts in the affected banks until the determination of the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.
