Mimiko receives PDP members into LP says Ondo People are no pushovers
Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Sunday described the people of
the state as enlightened and reasonable, who cannot be bought over by any
unscrupulous politician with money.
The Governor stated this in Akure during the defection of some chieftains of
other political parties from Idanre local government into Labour Party.
Among the defectors were the former People’s Democratic Party vice chairman
in the local government, Mr Ayinuola Benson and Mr Allen Akingbesote.
Dr Mimiko, who appreciated the people of the state for supporting the party
and his administration, noted that both the old and new members had equal
opportunities and urged them to work hard and sustain the unity within the
party.
According to him, the people had shown love and support for Labour Party and
appealed to members to justify the confidence reposed in it by the people by
seeking their welfare at all times.
His words “Room enough for all, which is our slogan is prophetic. When I
look back, I believe it’s prophetic. That means God was telling us ahead
that we must accommodate everybody as a big family. It is prophetic of the
manifestation of God. You are all members of the same family. There is no
second class member, you are all equal. People should work hard and they
must have the fear of God”.
“The people of the state have expressed their love for Labour Party in
several ways, they stood by us and we need to do everything possible to meet
their yearnings and aspiration. Our people are reasonable and faithful. The
people are enlightened, they are very intelligent and they cannot be
influenced by any politician with money no matter the situation. I must
thank our people for this”.
While receiving the defectors into Labour Party, the state deputy chairman
of the party in the central senatorial district, Chief Dele Akinyele,
congratulated them and urged them to work hard for the success of the party.
He noted that the party recognises hardwork and commitment.
