Bankole's Father raises alarm over safety of Son
The father of the former Speaker of House of Representatives Chief Alani Bankole have raised an alarm over the safety of his son, Dimeji Bankole currently in EFCC detention as he has it on good authority that a plot is being perfected to ensure that his son does not come out of his present ordeal alive.
Chief Bankole said unanimous intelligence sources both within and outside the country have contacted him to reach out to anybody that can help safeguard his son while in detention as his case is not a judicial matter but political.
His sources pointed out to the desperate attempt of the EFCC to ensure that the erstwhile Speaker remain in detention as even when he secured bail from a Federal High Court, EFCC lawyer Barrister Festus Keyamo quickly file other charges and opposed bail in while asking the court for a long adjournment to hear the new bail application. The fear is that Bankole may succeed in proofing his innocence, a situation likely to embarrass EFCC and the nation.
As if that was not enough, Keyamo told journalists outside the court that even after this second case filed, the EFCC is still going to bring more charges against Bankole apparently to ensure a long stay in detention.
Chief Bankole called on well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid in ensuring that his son who served the nation meritoriously and has pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him so far is not harmed while in detention as he recalled that similar incident had occurred in EFCC in the case of another members of the parliament, Hon. Maurice Ibekwe who died while in EFCC custody under Nuhu Ribadu.
