Amosun Constitutes Committee on New Workers

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State yesterday constituted a six-man committee to review the appointments of about 2000 workers employed towards the end of the last administration.

The committee, according to the governor, is expected to review their appointments and make necessary recommendations on their eligibility for appointments into the state civil service.

The six-man committee includes the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka(Chairman); Commissioner for Education, Barrister Segun Odubela; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo; Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals, Mrs. Hafsat Abiola-Costello; the Permanent secretaries of Civil Service Commission; and the Bureau of Establishment and Training.

The governor said his administration is not interested in sacking workers,but is rather committed to its five cardinal programmes(re-vitalising the state educational system; free and effective health care delivery system; employment generation; affordable housing and urban renewal; agricultural and industrial development.
