Uduaghan to Partner NDE on Job Creation

Delta state governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has promised to partner with the National Directorate of Employment in job creation so that the high percentage of unemployed youths in the state could be drastically reduced.

Dr Uduaghan who made the promised when the Director-General National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Mallam Abubakar Mohammed paid him a courtesy call in Asaba said the new Ministry of Poverty Alleviation as well as the new Public Works Department in the state were created to serve as avenues through which jobs could be created.

He disclosed that his administration has established special skill acquisition centres in various communities to retrain youths even as he also said that the state government was in partnership with UNDP and Obasanjo farms on job creation.

 Dr. Uduaghan said  Obasanjo farms has employed some youths and promised that more would be employed as production increases .His words “We have various programmes on job creation. All our programmes have the ultimate goal of employment and we are going to partner with you so that the army of jobless youths can be gainfully employed”.

The governor enjoined the National Directorate of Employment to use its skill acquisition centres and other programmes to battle unemployment in the country so that the pool of unemployed youths would not be   recruitment centre for criminal activities.

Dr. Uduaghan also said that his administration has already put machinery in motion to attract investors who would join the job creation crusade, hinting that some investors had already visited the state indicating willingness to invest in the state. He put it this way “We recently signed MOU with foreign partners and this will create jobs and boost our economy. In fact our investors are already here”.

 

The Director-General National Directorate of Employment Mallam Abubakar Mohammed in his remarks commended Delta State Government for its quick response towards the Directorate’s programmes.

Mallam Mohammed who expressed appreciation to Delta State for its resourcefulness on job creation promised to collaborate with the state on all programmes related to job creation.

He disclosed that he was in the state to inspect skill acquisition centres and preside over a seminar workshop organised by his directorate in Asaba.

The NDE DG congratulated the governor on his re-run election tribunal victory and enjoined him not to be distracted.
