Detained former Chief Security Office to Late General Sanni Abacha, Major Al-Mustapha, has reechoed the allegation that former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has absolute knowledge on how Chief MKO Abiola and General Abacha were killed.

Al-Mustapha also revealed that political leaders from the South West were all bribed with $200m, £75m and N500m from funds made available by the Central Bank of Nigeria to silence them over the death of Abiola.

The former CSO made the revealation at the Lagos High Court where he is standing trial over the death of Kudirat Abiola, wife of Chief Abiola and acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential elections.

He said he has been unjustly incarcerated under the orders of former General Abubakar who fears that his release might expose all the secrets leading to the death of Abiola and Abacha.

According to him, ““In the course of this testimony, I wish to say that I will omit any issue that will affect the National Security of the country as a serving officer of the Nigerian Army. My incarceration was as a result of a script written and acted out by former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsallam Abubakar, to further keep me in prison.

“First, were the events that happened after the death of General Sani Abacha and Chief MKO Abiola. For fear that I may divulge information that led to their death, they have to keep me in prison till date,” Al-Mustapha told the court.

Al-Mustapha insisted that “Al-Mustapha said, “I am an officer who is being persecuted. After the death of Abacha so much happened within three days and the country was without a President or Vice-President.

“Many senior officers wanted to become the Head of State, but God gave me the wisdom and I assisted Gen. Abdulsallam Abubakar to become President. But, this is the price I am paying for my loyalty and for assisting him.”

The former CSO who denied given orders to Sgt Rogers that led to the killing of Abiola’s wife said he had over the years had very cordial relationship with the Abiola family and would not have had a reason to order the killing of any member of that family.

He said “On several occasions I assisted Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Mr. Kola Abiola, Abiola’s doctor, Ore Falomo, and his lawyers to visit him (Abiola) in prison.”

According to him, he used the Strike Force to protect Abiola from those who wanted to kill him “to balance the equation.
