President Jonathan's Special Adviser's Uncle kidnapped in Port-Harcourt
Mr. Samuel Adegboyega, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SOWSCO Well Services Nigeria Limited, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Mr. Adegboyega, who is an uncle of Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, Special Adviser on International Relations to President Goodluck Jonathan, was kidnapped at 8.30 p.m. onTuesday, 9 th August, 2011.
He arrived from work into the waiting arms of gunmen, who had lurked around his residence inEliada Estate, Rumuogba, Port-Harcourt.
Engineer Sam Adegboyega, who is an indigene of Ile-Oluji in Ondo State has lived and worked in Port Harcourt for over 30 years and has contributed immensely to the economy of the state. Of these30 years, he worked for Dowell Schlumberger for almost 13 years and rose to become the highest ranking Nigerian in that company before he retired to found Sowsco Wells Services Ltd which has grown to become one of the foremost indigenous oil and gas service companies in Nigeria.
An ardent believer in the local content policy of the Federal Government in the oil and gas industry, Engineer Adegboyega has never relented in the development of the Nigerian manpower in the industry. He is one of the founding members of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).
Many Rivers State indigenes have benefitted immensely from his company in form of employment and scholarships. The kidnap of Engineer Sam Adegboyega, who is an illustrious son of Ile-Oluji, has thrown the town into panic and his aged mother in severe distress.
