T.A. Orji |
Special adviser to the governor on electronic media Ugochukwu Emezue says the allegation against Governor T. A. Orji by electronic dealers in Aba, that the number one citizen of the state is using the military and police to intimidate and harass them remain untrue.
Mr. Emezue in a statement stated that the allegations which were sent to the Chief of army staff and the inspector general of police in form of a petition were done in bad faith.
According to the special adviser, prior to the demolition exercise, the state government announced repeatedly on the state radio station for several weeks urging the electronic dealers and other traders doing business in illegal structures to relocate into designated markets, but these traders refused.
Now that the task force has started sanitizing Aba, the electronic dealers are alleging all manner of things to blackmail the governor.
The fact remains, that the governor of Abia State will never use security agencies to harass or intimidate, the people he has sworn to protect.
The electronic dealers should go into the market already allocated to them, as government will not be forced into stopping his vision to give Abia a new face, Mr. Emezue added.
The media adviser told the COAS and IG that their men in Abia State are doing a good job to stamp out kidnapping and ensuring that security is tight.
