A faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, has called for the immediate removal of the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh.

The call formed part of the resolution adopted by the group at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ojukwu Bunker Resort Rendezvous, Umuahia.

“We hereby resolve unanimously and a pass vote of no confidence on Chief Victor Umeh as the National Chairman of APGA and call for his immediate removal from the office for his crass incompetence in running the party.

“ For instance, he turned the party to his private estate as a one man enterprise, combining as the national chairman and executing the duties of treasurer, financial secretary, cashier, auditor, deputy chairman, PRO, legal adviser, amongst others."

Other reasons adduced by the group for the removal of Umeh include his inability to account for huge party funds, running into billions for the past seven years, INEC subventions, nomination fees, membership subscriptions, donations, just to mention but a few; Umeh’s divide and rule approach; his alleged total commitment to the destruction of party structures in various states of the federation, particularly Abia State. A situation which the group claims is responsible for the party to lose its goodwill, popularity and support in the Southeast.

"Umeh’s actions are tantamount to serious and irredeemable anti party activities which are highly destructive to the image and reputation of APGA", the group noted.

They also accused Umeh of perpetuating himself in office for seven years and itching to manoeuver his way for another four years by illegally reconstituting the National Working Committee early this year at Enugu.

The group is also calling for the congresses and elections of the party to be carried out from wards to the state levels, followed by a national convention for National officers of the party to strengthen and move the party forward and save it from total collapse and extinction by the activities of Umeh.

The group, who congratulated Governors Peter Obi and Rochas Okorocha of Anambra and Imo states, respectively, for their victories at the polls and contributions to the survival of the party, also urged the governors to adopt the resolution as it affects the removal of Umeh.

Barr. Charles Elodi, the state legal adviser of the party hinted that the move will be reciprocated in other state chapters of APGA.
