Gov. Orji's Son shuns Social Functions after brawl with Soldiers

Aftermath of the brawl with soldiers at an Umuahia supermarket, last July, Abia state governor’s son, Chinedu Orji, now maintains low profile by shunning social functions, which were hitherto, his main attraction.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that since the incident that left him badly bruised, Chinedu has never been seen anywhere around the Umuahia metropolis. According to a government House source, ”He now maintains low profile and no longer comes to Government House as was the case before he got into trouble with the soldiers. The long convoy of vehicles, which he loved to use, has now disappeared. ”
The source further revealed that Chinedu was very influential with the way he took certain decisions without Gov. Orji raising eyebrows. He was said to have helped most of his friends get appointments or contracts within government circles.
During his father’s re-election bid last, he mobilized youths and party members across the 17 local councils with the way he disbursed funds, ranging from N500,000 to N1million at every rally he convened, climaxing in the purchase of new brand Audi cars for all the 17 Youth Leaders of the PDP in the state.
On the political scene, he is known as a ‘power broker’ who could make things happen within the twinkle of an eye. “You will marvel at the way these politicians were flocking around him for one favour or the other. His house could then be described as a ‘Political Mecca’, in fact I really miss him, he assisted us a lot.”
It would be recalled that Chinedu ran into trouble with soldiers in Umuahia after he was alleged to have slapped an Army Captain who was on mufti in a supermarket for refusing to make way for him and his bodyguards. The soldiers allegedly manhandled him.
The situation brought embarrassment to the Abia state government as its media handlers continued to deny the incident.
For now, he has not been seen anywhere as rumours continues to mount that he has gone overseas. |
