PRESS RELEASE
Jonathan: Court adjourns HRJPF’s suit against AGF, NASS ...Fixes May 27 for adoption of written addresses
The Federal High Court, V, (formerly Court II), Abuja, has adjourned suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/109/201 filed by the Human Rights, Justice and Peace Foundation (HRJPF) and its President, Comrade Chidi Nwosu, challenging the constitutionality of the resolution of the National Assembly empowering Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While J. S. Okutepa, Esq., counsel to the HRJPF and its President, had argued that the matter be given an accelerated hearing, counsels to the defendants prayed the honourable court to grant them more time to respond to the Originating Summons and defence of the HRJPF and its President to their preliminary objection to their locus standi.
Consequently, the matter has been adjourned to May 27, 2010, for adoption of the Originating Summons and written addresses of all the parties involved in the suit.
Toyin Oloye,
Secretary, HRJPF
