Press Release from the Ministry of Information

The Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and the Honourable Minister of Information and Communications, Prof.  Dora Akunyili will be honoured by the African Public Relations Association (APRA) at their  forthcoming conference in Abuja.

Dr. Jonathan will be made the Grand Patron of  the association while Prof. Akunyili will be conferred with its Honorary Fellowship. This was revealed by APRA’s secretary general, Mr Wole Adamolekan during a courtesy visit to Prof Akunyili in her office in Abuja today.

The conference titled All Africa Public Relations Conference will hold between May 18 th  and 20 th , 2010. Its theme is on Corporate Governance.

Mr. Adamolekan pledged to assist the Ministry of Information and Communications to achieve its goals, stating that members of his association could volunteer as consultants to the Ministry.

Prof Akunyili commended the association for the honour being conferred on her and the Acting President. She also applauded APRA for moving its headquarters from Kenya to Nigeria. “It is a statement of confidence  in Nigeria”,  she said. “ By this, they have told us that they have faith in us”.
