Conscience Nigeria Press Release
PRESS RELEASE
An NGO, Conscience Nigeria (CN), on monday urged President Goodluck Jonathan to focus his attention on three ``vital'' development agenda.
In a statement made available to press men in abuja, the group identified electoral reforms, anti-corruption crusade and the Niger Delta crisis as the three vital areas that required urgent attention.
``We have no doubt in President Jonathan’s capability to do something dramatic but let him focus on these three vital areas,’’ the statement signed by Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, the Executive Director of the CN, said.
The statement described the elevation of Jonathan as ``an act of God’’, urging all the citizens to unite behind him to salvage the country.
``The only good we can do ourselves as a nation is to unite behind the President at this critical moment; he is a man appointed by God,” it said.
The statement described as exemplary, the maturity and statesmanship exhibited by Jonathan in piloting the affairs of the country in the past few days.
``President Jonathan is a rare breed of politician. He was loyal to his former boss and he has been performing his present duty with great strides.
We equally appeal to him to appoint a proffessional as vp and not a politicial so as not to distract his short time left.
We also call for commission of enquiry on the circumstances that led to president yaradua's death so as to unravel the role of the "CABALS"
``We commend him and urge him to remain focused, follow the constitution and continue to reckon with God who helped him to this level,” the statement said.
``It was a trying time for this country and it was by the grace of God and the intelligence of President Jonathan that we survived it,’’ |
