Sanusi, Nwaogu for Business Hallmark Roundtable

Eminent personalities in Nigeria including top brass in banking and oil sector of the nation’s economy will grace the first edition of the Business Hallmark Roundtable scheduled for Friday, July 30, 2010 at Golden Gate Restaurant, Kingsway Road, Ikoyi. Others expected to be at the roundtable are serving and former public servants, top government functionaries, judges and traditional rulers.

Expected at the roundtable is the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who is going to be the lead speaker.

 

In a statement signed by the publisher of Business Hallmark, Prince Emeka Obasi, Mallam Sanusi will speak on the CBN Reforms and Future of the Banking Industry.

 

According to Prince Obasi, the roundtable is being organized by Business Hallmark to review the financial service sector one year into the recent reform activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria under Sanusi and also to give opportunity to the Central Bank and industry stakeholders, senior bank executives, journalists and select members of the public to discuss the direction and policy implications of CBN’s reform agenda

 

 

‘The roundtable set out to achieve the following objectives: Review the performance of the Nigerian Banking sector over the last decade and objectively appraise the performance of the sector within prevailing regulatory apparatus. Review the impact of banking regulations, concentration and institutions on bank margins. Review the recent banking crisis and rescue, with a view to clearly stating lessons learnt and identifying the pathway to a sustainable banking sector future. Addressing the broad issues of regulatory and institutional reforms of the Nigerian Financial system with a view to improving institutional performance. Providing fresh and in-depth perspectives to issues of managing systemic banking sector risks.’

 

Dr Obadiah Mailafia, a former central banker and financial consultant, will chair the roundtable, while Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Chairman; Senate Committee on Banking will be the Special Guest of Honour.

 

There will also be a team of discussants including Dr Martins Oluba, (Economic Adviser, Value Fronteira), Dr Biodun Adedipe, (Adedipe Associates,) Dr Doyin Salami, (Lagos Business School) and Dr Godwin Owoh, (Financial Consultant).
