CACOL condemns assassination of EFCC Staff
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has berated the assassination of Mr. Abdullahi Muazu, who until his gruesome murder was the head of forensic unit of the EFCC. He was killed on Tuesday, 14th September 2010 at his residence in Kaduna.
In its message of condolence to EFCC and family of the late Mr. Muazu, the Coalition urged the family to be strong and develop fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of their fine officer and breadwinner, it equally condemned the dastardly act of those responsible for the killing of Mr. Muazu; saying “it is disheartening to note that the lives of patriotic Nigerians who stand firmly and courageously to fight corruption in order to better the lots of our country are being annihilated.
CACOL therefore calls on the President, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan to take immediate steps to address the situation. The group “urged the new Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim to see the murder of Mr. Muazu as an acid test of his new appointment. He has to prove to Nigerians that his tenure will be distinctly different from those of his predecessors in the last twelve years where police investigation, especially in murder cases in Nigeria were frustrated, swept under the carpets or simply abandoned.
“The government of President Goodluck Jonathan should give the citizens of Nigeria a security system that will protect their lives and properties rather than make them live a life of perpetual fear”, the anti-corruption outfit counselled.
