Hon. Nwidam Has Over-stepped His Bounds ~ KYM
The Khana Youth Movement views with seriousness the unwarranted and barbaric assault on the highly revered symbol and personality of the paramount ruler of Bua Bangha Kingdom, HRH, Mene Suanu T.Y. Baridam, JP by the Khana local council chairman, Hon Gregory Nwidam.
It is most unfortunate how the times have changed, to the extent that a State government recognized 2nd Class traditional ruler would be so rudely embarrassed by a council chairman for no other reason than alleged failure of the royal father to succour the chairman’s political dreams and ambition.
For the Hon Nwidam’s information, his days in office are numbered, even if he returns for a second term. This is unlike the traditional stool of the Bua Bangha (and Nyokhana) people which Mene Suanu Baridam would occupy until death, barring provable misconduct.
It is, therefore unimaginable and unacceptable that the council chairman would unleash his ill-bred security operatives on the sacred personality without a second thought on how his subjects would react.
We, therefore seize this medium to caution the chairman for over-stepping his official bounds and pouring insult on the entire Bua Bangha Kingdom.
We demand an unreserved apology from Hon Nwidam within seven days of the publication of this press release, failing which the executives and members of the KYM would be compelled to respond in a manner that might not please him.
We also advise all politicians within the kingdom and the entire Ogoniland to tread the political terrain with caution and learn to separate politics from the traditional institution as a clash of the two authorities would not do anybody any good.
Signed
Comrade Sunny Bekanwa
President, Khana Youth Movement
