Call for arrest of DPO Kabiru Ishiaq for murder

The attention of the Human Rights, Justice and Peace Foundation (HRJPF) has been drawn to a story in Sunday Champion issue of October 9, 2010, captioned “DPO rapes woman to death in Aba.”

According to the story, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ndiegoro Police Station, Cameroun Road, Aba, Mr. Kabiru Ishaq, allegedly raped one Princess Chinasa Onwukwe, a native of Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, to death after drugging her.

Solid information available to the HRJPF revealed that since the callous spilling of that innocent blood, the Abia State Police Command, rather than arrest and detain the DPO, pending the outcome of its investigation, as would have been done to a commoner, has been shielding him because, as a source alleged, he is “their man”. Like Nero Caeser who fiddled while Rome burned, the suspect under the protection of the Abia State Police Command has relocated to Hotel Terminus – the most expensive hotel in Aba.

The question therefore that is begging for answer is: Why hasn’t the

Abia State Police Command ordered the immediate arrest of Mr. Ishaq, the suspected sex maniac in police uniform? Could it be it is because of the “huge returns” the suspected murderer in police uniform is rumoured to be making regularly to the police authority in the state? Or, is the Abia State Police Command insinuating that Chinasa whose precious life was in a manner most brutal snuffed was a carnivorous animal that sneaked into the DPO’s office to devour him?

Accordingly, while condemning this act of bestiality, brutality, primitivism and ruthlessness, the HRJPF calls on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to order the immediate arrest of DPO Ishaq. But if the IGP fails to heed this call, the HRJPF shall not hesitate to employ democratic and civilized means to ensure that justice is dispensed to the slain.

Enough is enough!
