Stop playing Politics with Education
Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) is urging the Federal Government to come to the aid of the students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU ) in Ogun State and resolve the pending issues between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Ogun State government so that academic activities can resume promptly in the school.
Debo Adeniran CACOL’ s Executive Chairman also commends the peaceful approach of the students during their protest at Channels Television, saying: “this singular act has portrayed the students as law abiding and intelligent, and it is an assurance that to some extent, our young ones are responsible and our tertiary institutions are not raising violent graduates”.
He therefore urged the parties concern to find a lasting solution to this problem before the students adopt the use of violence which could be disastrous, “The failure of the government to provide a lasting solution to this problem can spell doom for the peaceful co-existence of the citizens, because ‘an idle hand is the devil’s workshop’, the earlier this is soughed out, the better for everyone” .
He urged the Ogun State government to stop playing politics with the education of its youth and to the striking lecturers, he advised that they should find a better way of settling their differences with the government rather than wasting the precious time of the students.
