Former Military dictator, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida formally declared his intention to run for the 2011 Presidential election promising to focus on “ignored sectors” such as the film industry, tourism and hospitality if elected next year.
Babangida, at his declaration in Abuja attended by former Governor of River State, Dr. Peter Odili, former Senate President, Mr. Ken Nnamani and Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, was silent on other sector such as the oil industry from where he looted the nation for eight years and could not account for $12 Billion oil windfall.
Political big names were visibly absent at the rally.
IBB, as he is fondly called by his admirers arrived at the Eagle Square venue at about 11am Nigeria time in a motorcade told the crowd at his declaration ceremony that he has learned a lot of lessons after “stepping aside” “almost two decades ago.”
The event ended at about 2pm for members to attend the National Executive Council, NEC meeting of the people’s Democratic Party, PDP |
