The group in a press statement which was it made available to newsmen in Abuja at the weekend further decried the expensive advertorials placed in both Electronic and the Print Media on the state of Owerri yet the place remained dirty. Part of the statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Maximus Uba read thus “it is a notorious fact today that the sanitation state of Owerri the Imo State is going from bad to worse, most houses in Owerri especially the once at the outskirts don’t have toilets not to talk of running water. Recently we commissioned a study on this and we found out that nearly six out of ten houses do not have modern toilet facilities taps are dry in Owerri, we therefore condemn the millions expended on the clean and green project which has now become a conduit pipe for the Ohakims to siphon government Money”. The Group tasked the Imo State Government to immediately address the lack of toilet facilities in most houses in Owerri, the issue of scarcity water and poor Housing facilities that has become the lot of Owerri residents since 1984. In the alterative, the Group said Government should construct public toilets in strategic locations in Owerri and environs if not for anything to check the looming epidemic that may be the lot of Owerri Metropolis. The Group further urged Government to reduce the school fees of Imo State University Students to a reasonable figure to enable parents cope with the high fees and to avoid a repeat of the riot staged by the students in Owerri to demand reduction of school fees.
