IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH - BETWEEN FEMI AJAYI AND GBENGA DANIEL
By Olabode Ayodele
It is important to all lovers of Ogun State, or nay Nigeria to seek for the truth in the recently released information that Femi Ajayi (Dr.) of the Nigeriaworld.com has been appointed the Chairman, Medical Board in Ogun State by the State Governor, His Excellency, Chief Gbenga Daniel.
The questions being asked by many curious people are what are the qualifications of Mr. Femi Ajayi? Is Ogun State so short of qualified sons and daughters that someone without the prerequisites and from Kwara State has to be made a Chairman of a very professional body like the Medical Board?
Additionally, rumor mills have it that the PhD degree of our Femi Ajayi was an honorary one, and aside from that the recipient is one of the boys for the embattled governor of Ogun State. It is a fact that some years ago, there was a ‘venture’ in which Femi Ajayi went to Ogun State with real medical doctors to assist with free medical check up. He went with qualified medical personnel from United States, albeit the man is yet to lay any claim to being a medical professional. His explanation was that he went from elementary to modern school, to College of education and eventually made it to some College.
It is very probable that the colleagues of Femi Ajayi of the internet based Nigeriaworld jubilate that one of them has finally been recognized by one of the powers that be in Nigeria, and is now on his way to reaping the fruits of his sycophancy of years. However, we need to ask pertinent questions: Is Femi Ajayi a medical professional? It is a well known fact that Femi Ajayi professes to have a Doctorate degree, but tongues have been waging around here in United States that his PhD was an award.
This writer believes that it is a privilege to be honored with a Doctoral degree, but also believes that the display of this honor is usually done by honorees than those who actually got it through their academic struggles.
It will be a huge error to compare the Niyi Osundares, Alaba Ogunsanwos, Reuben Abatis and the likes with those who either begged to be given or paid to be honored. It is therefore easily noticed that the guys with free PhDs are always eager to address themselves as Dr. ZZZ and so forth while the big guns would just address themselves as Wole Soyinka, Niyi Osundare, Phillip Emegwali, Chuba Okadigbo and so forth.
The Governor of Ogun State like some of the current politicians in Nigeria are fond of proclaiming that they made their marks (I mean their money) outside the country, but has been able to do better in Nigeria. Gbenga Daniel is in his second term in office, is still engaged in titanic battles for his political life with those who have reasons to disagree with his policies or perhaps his styles. These styles have been described as autocratic, murderous and selfish. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly actually used the word selfish, while one of the former aides of the governor now hiding from the governor’s goons described the style as murderous after surviving gun shots on the Shagamu/Lagos Expressway. The PDP elders called it autocratic, and have advised that party leadership be taken away from the mama’s boy.
Femi Ajayi is the regular writer on the Nigeriaworld who has many times camouflaged and campaigned in Nigeria as one of the opinion leaders of Nigerians in Diaspora. This is one of the owners of the Nigeriaworld, and has on many occasions used the internet news to attract ‘goody-goodies and tom-toms’ to himself. He has been able to do this successfully in some States especially with the good man in Ogun State.
If there is any mention of a group of farmers going to Nigeria, Femi Ajayi should have something to say about it. Land for Nigerians abroad in Abuja, jobs for Nigerians who have overstayed in abroad and in need of rehabilitation? This is the man who established a bi-weekly internet program with a suspected intention to garner political favors from the powers that be in Nigeria.
He informed his audience that he went through the old Modern School, passed through to Grade Two Teachers’ College, migrated to a College of Education, and finally landed in some University. He spoke the kind of English that the ‘Ogi’ of University of Ibadan, or Great Ife would. He was silent on his much adored attachment of PhD.
The news was that Governor Gbenga Daniel in his judgment, and as the executive administrator of Ogun State has appointed Femi Ajayi as the Chairman of the State Health Board. This is Ogun State where many qualified medical professionals with ‘hot’ doctoral achievements are looking for jobs.
The answer is that Femi Ajayi has really worked for Gbenga Daniel in many of his columns, using his controlled internet News rumored to be financed by one of his patrons in Nigeria. He has also been a connection to the free medical treatment offered to Ogun State people some years back.
Does any of the above qualify Femi Ajayi to be appointed a Chairman of the State Medical Board? The governor could have appointed him as one of his aides in replacement of the one that ran away after escaping the guns on the expressway.
The fact that Femi Ajayi is from Kwara State of Nigeria does not matter, the concern of this author is why Ogun State will ignore many qualified Medical personnel with paper and work achievements to give this important position to a lobbyist or an elderly man in need of rehabilitation?.
The story is that our Femi Ajayi has started to enjoy a well furnished palace with police security from Ogun State on the authority of his Excellency, the governor, and his professorial self has announced this on his internet news. He has chosen again to address himself as not just the 'Dr.' but indeed 'the Professor'.
Hail Professor Femi Ajayi! Hail Mr. Dr.!!
This is a time for questions for his Excellency, the governor, and also for Dr.. Femi Ajayi to explain the nature of his much camouflaged academic attachment, and also his job in Ogun State.
This is truly a new age in Nigeria of area-boy revolution.
