I HATE MY COUNTRY By MOFEOLA AYINDE
I was born in Nigeria some 40 years ago.
I had my Primary, Secondary and Universities education in Nigeria
I have travelled extensively through the length and breadth of Nigeria.
I hate my Country
Mine is a country where we are unfortunate to always have rulers and not leaders
Mine is a country where mediocrity is celebrated at the expense of merit
Mine is a country where the upright person is an endanger specie (Dele Giwa of Blessed memory was a good example)
I hate my country.
Mine is a country where the major natural resource has turned out to be a curse (crude oil and the Niger Delta Issue)
Mine is a country where the practice of politics of bitterness is the order of the day (we will not forget Funsho Williams and all other innocent politicians that were a victim in a hurry)
Mine is a country where the quickest way of becoming rich is to do bad politics
Mine is a country where someone in prison custody contested and ‘won’ election and still sitting in the unhallowed chamber( I am ashamed of this –Iyiola Omisore)
Mine is a country where politicians will do just anything to remain in power (Alao-Akala, Gbenga Daniels,Uduaghan among others)
Mine is a country where long queues at gas stations is a normal thing (this is not ought to be)
Mine is a country where the only language understands by government is for workers to go on strike before they can achieve any meaningful result (ASUU, NUPENG, SSANU NMA etc)
Mine is a country where Pastors and their wives smiles to bank at the expense of the congregations
I hate my country.
Mine is a country where nexus (and not merit) is needed to get employed or get contract
Mine is a country where incessant power outage is a way of life
Mine is a country where fake drugs still find their way into the open markets
Mine is a country where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
Mine is a country that we cannot say exactly the population of the country (pending litigations on the 2006 census is a pointer to this). How can we plan?
Mine is a country where the scarce financial resources are looted abroad to finance the economy of the developed countries ( Babagida , Obasanjo,Late Abacha,Ibori and associates can testify to this)
Mine is a country where the nature has blessed us with some of the best brains in world yet, we do not allow them to operate freely at home (Wole Soyinka,Chinua Achebe,Ngozi Iwela, etc are few examples)
Mine is a country where leaders believe that they are always above the law (Obasanjo, Ibori, Odili, Babangida.....the list continues)
Mine is a country where the judiciary has turned out to be mockery and laughing stock among the world judiciary (No thanks to Aadoakaan, Awokulehin, just to mention but a few)
Mine is a country where the very few ones who have decided to say the truth are being marked for elimination (Ribadu, Keyamo ,Gani Fawehinmi –of blessed memory are case studies)
Mine is a country where when you demand for you right, you are labelled by the government of the day as enemy (Ken Saro Wiwa and the eight others, Asari Dokubo, and all sincere Niger Delta warriors-I salute your courage)
I hate my country.
Mine is a country where it takes a whooping sum of N628 Million just to refurbish a house by a woman, nothing was done (Ette’s gate)
Mine is a country where a huge sum of cash (N320Billion) allocated for the construction of roads was pocketed by one person (Anenih , proof me wrong, please)
Mine is a country where the rich are always afraid to die when the judgement of God come calling (Mariam Babangida are u alive?)
Mine is a country where Mrs Re-Branding herself cannot give a convincing explanation on an outrageous contract sum of N8 Billion (Akinyuli, good people, great Nation)
Mine is a country where the information on the state of Health of the President is just the exclusive right of some people. Too bad.(Madam Tuari, what is happening to UMY?)
Mine is country where travelling by road is a nightmare (Benin-Ore,Ogbomoso-Ilorin, East-West are good examples of my experience)
Mine is a country where N300 million health budget is pocketed by a woman Senator and she still have the guts to walk tall in the ‘hallowed’ chamber (hallowed chamber indeed).
Mine is a country where the purchase of second-hand (clothes, under wears, automobiles, GSM phones, electronics etc) items are highly celebrated. Why can’t we buy new ones?
Mine is a country where the man who ought to be the custodian of law is the greatest pathological liar of our time (Michael Aadoakaan –the Attorney General of the Federation.)
Mine is a country where a serial master certificates forger is appointed as the man in charge of the Nigerian Customs (Abdulahi Inde Dikko- CG of Customs).
Mine is a country where Governors struggles to marry the President daughters in order to build immunity for themselves ( Yuguda of Bauchi is an example)
I have my Country.
Please send this to as many people as you can reach.
Yours Sincerely,
Signed
