STOP CHASING THE WIND: LET US FOLLOW PRECEDENCE By Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha
Ever since the exposure on the criminal activities of Governor Ikedi
Godson Ohakim of Imo State, there has been grave silence from the
Ohakim led government in Imo State. They have practically refused
or ashamed to respond to the issues raised in so many Newspapers and
magazines publication including the internet. Yet the ripple effect
and reverberating effect in Imo State and Nigeria is too awesome to be
ignored.
It therefore means that this writer is absolutely right in his
allegations against the Governor of Imo State. One then wonders why
the Imo State House of Assembly have not summoned the Governor for
questioning or even outright impeachment after which he can be
arrested to face prosecution.
But then History has a way of repeating itself. What do I mean? In
1999 Hon Jasper Ndubuaku representing Isi-ala Mbano State Constituency
accused His Excellency the former Governor of Imo State Chief Dr.
Achike Udenwa of using one hundred million naira to buy mansions in
United States of America and Europe. This allegation was published in
the defunct EXAMINER NEWSPAPERS of 20th – 25th September 1999 edition.
On the 27th of September 1999 Hon Jasper Ndubuaku followed up his
allegation against chief Udenwa by writing a letter to the House of
Assembly. Curiously too, Chief Achike Udenwa also wrote a letter with
ref. No. GH/EGO/S.V/VI/19 of 27th September 1999 and addressed to the
speaker of the then Imo State House of Assembly Hon Noel Agwuocha
Chukwukadibia requesting that a probe panel committee be set up to
investigate the alleged spending of one hundred million naira public
funds to buy properties in United States of America and Europe. In
that letter Chief udenwa waived his immunity aside and pledged to
resign if found guilty.
The Adhoc probe panel committee led by Hon. Dr Sam Emeka Ukaegbu
thereafter wrote a letter to chief Achike Udenwa on the 18th of
October 1999 inviting him to appear before it on Friday 22nd of
October 1999 by 2.00pm in room 202 Imo State House of Assembly complex.
See the attached letter.
The Adhoc probe panel committee equally wrote to Hon. Jasper Ndubuaku
on the 25th of October 1999 inviting him to appear before it on
Tuesday 26th of October 1999. Hon Jasper Ndubuaku was also advised to
bring all relevant documents to substantiate his allegations. See
attached letter. The rest of the story is today history.
It is on record that this writer has made several allegations against
Governor Ikedi Godson Ohakim ranging from fraud in government,
stealing, looting, exploitation of the poor masses, diversion of state
resources, money laundering etc among others. These allegations and
accusations have all been published in numerous newspapers and
magazines in Nigeria including the internet. I have held several
workshops and seminars in Imo State where I practically demonstrated
how Ohakim loots public funds in the State. Furthermore the EFCC,
office of the Inspector General of Police etc have been intimated of
the criminal activities of Governor Ikedi Ohakim. I have equally
written to the Imo State council of Traditional Rulers and the
Christian Association of Nigeria (Imo State branch) officially
informing them of the criminal activities of Governor Ikedi Ohakim.
Not relenting, I wrote my first to the speaker of the Imo State House
of Assembly on the 2nd of June 2008, informing him of Governor Ohakim
criminal activities and pleading with him to set up a probe panel
committee to look into my allegations. That letter is today a public
document. When a dubious-scam probe panel committee was eventually set
up in August 2009, I wrote a letter to them on the 14th of September
2009 begging them to invite to appear before them. That letter is
today also a public document.
I have continued to expose the criminal activities of Ikedi Ohakim
with the recent exposure on money laundering activities between the
Governor and his special Assistant on special duties Mr Chikwem Onuoha
together with now sacked Chikwem Onuoha’s driver Mr Emmanuel Ayilara.
I have also written a second letter to the speaker of Imo State House
of Assembly on the 9th of January 2010 begging him to set up a probe
panel that will specifically invite me to come (along with my
conditions) and prove my allegations. This current letter to the
speaker is now a public document. Neither the House of Assembly nor
the Governor has found the courage to challenge me. Rather they have
been hiding their faces in shame while at the same time instigating
people and groups to come and threaten my life. What am I talking
about? Few days ago precisely on the 9th of January 2010, a moribund-
epileptic and formless Youth Vanguard known as OHAKIM Youth Vanguard
sent a threat to life text message to me through their equally
debilitating epileptic state Chairman Mr Ifeanyi CY Njoku. May I at
this juncture warn that any attempt by Chief Ikedi Ohakim or indeed
any group to harm me in any form will trigger of a long chain of
dangerous and terrible events in Imo State.
It is very unfortunate that this infantile leadership of Ikedi Ohakim
is made up of sycophants who can never tell him the truth about his
dismal and abysmal leadership. In 1985 during an interactive session
at the multipurpose hall Owerri, the then military Governor of Imo
State Brigadier General Ike Omar Sandra Nwachukwu was beating his
chest and reeling out his achievements as the governor. while his
Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Traditional Rulers, and other
stakeholders were clapping hands for the governor, one man stood up to
tell Brigadier Nwachukwu to his face that majority of Imo people were
disappointed with his style of leadership. Shocked by the man’s
“audacity of madness” or is it “audacity of courage” anchored on the
shoulders of truth, Brigadier Nwachukwu simply asked the man to explain
to him properly. The man went on and on and opened Brigadier
NwachuKwus mind to the realities on ground and even moved many steps
further to proffer solutions. To the amazement of everybody present at
the multipurpose hall, Brigadier Ike Nwachukwu ordered the Imo State
Civil Service Commission to promote the man to the position of Senior
Permanent Secretary. That man is still alive today and he is the
Traditional Ruler in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area in Imo State.
His name is H.R.H. Eze Kele .B. Okereke. He was promoted from an
Assistant Principal Secretary to Senior Permanent Secretary.
Therefore what is happening today in Imo State is a clear testimony
that Chief Ikedi Ohakim is suffering from Leadership tuberculosis.
Hence he is on a directionless journey. A directionless man has no
vision, no mission and no goal facilitated by encirclement of
sycophants, bootlickers, failed politicians, failed businessman,
failed leaders, discredited elders, unfocused youths, failed
professors, and dismissed Vice-Chancellors etc. The resultant effect
is the devaluation of leadership in Imo State.
Therefore, rather than chasing the wind, let the Ohakim leadership
stand up to the radical challenge of allowing precedence follow suit.
Let the Imo State House of Assembly summon Chief Ikedi Ohakim to
appear before them. Let the Imo State House of Assembly also summon me
along with my conditions to appear before them. If I fail to prove my
allegations, let me be jailed 5 years with hard labour. But if I prove
my allegations against Governor Ohakim by at least 88%, then let him
be impeached so that he can be arrested to face prosecution.
Let me at this point advice and caution the Imo State House of
Assembly not to joke with the sensitivities and sensibilities of Imo
citizens and Nigerians. I say this because it is an open truth that
the shortcomings of the Ohakim leadership is partly blamed at the
doorstep of the Imo State House of Assembly due to their numerous
anti-people bills, policies and non-challance to be a check on the
excesses of the Executive. Some of these anti-people bills, policies
and motions are as follows:
1. A motion passed by Hon Mbadiwe Emelumba calling for the return of
properties of ritual killers and fraudsters seized by the State
Government in 1996 during the OTOKOTO riot.
2. A motion sponsored Hon John Egbuchulam (majority leader) calling
for the legalization of Abortion in Imo State. This bill was
co-sponsored by the Deputy Speaker Hon Jonas Okeke, Hon Mike Iheanaetu
and ten others. This was indeed a bill to debase womanhood.
3. Passing a billing renaming a major street in Owerri (at Works
Layout) after a man who conducted the worst election in the history of
Nigeria (Professor Maurice Iwu).
4. Passing a bill renaming Imo State University after Senator Evan
Enwerem, a man who was impeached as Senate President over certificate
forgery, academic qualification and falsification of his age.
5. Passing the infamous ENTRACO bill in April 2008 and signing it into
law in August 2008 by the Governor after the so called ENTRACO agency
had been used illegally to destroy the properties of innocent citizens
of Imo State between August 2007 and April 2008. Conversely, it is
very safe for one to argue and conclude that properties and economic
activities of the poor masses were illegally destroyed by the Ohakim
leadership.
6. Illegally increasing the security vote of Governor Ohakim from one
billion naira to 2.5 billion naira when the people of Imo State are in abject poverty.
7. Illegally passing a motion by Hon. Stan Dara urging Imo State
government to pay past councilors of their entitlements, which later
turned out to be a fraud. The councilors were later defrauded 40% of
entitlements.
8. And so on and so forth.
The questions that comes to mind now is, How come we have people
elected in the House of Assembly and these “mis-happenings” have
continued to occur in Imo State? After a serious research and
investigations this writer discovered that because of the “quality” of
people at the so called Imo State House of Assembly, the people of Imo
State have continued to witness mis-governance, mis-management of
leadership, Devaluation of leadership, leadership marginalization and
infantile leadership.
In the Part Two of this episode, Imo citizens and Nigerians will find
out why over 90% of members of Imo State House of Assembly are not
living up to expectation. They will know why the so called honourable
members are called “ALAKIRIJA” legislators (Bunch of Nonentities). The
characteristics of these so called honourables will be made public and
people will then know why what is happening in Imo State is happening.
As for MR Chikwem Onuoha (the Special Advicer to Governor Ohakim on
money laundering), I understand that he wants to contest for Federal
House of Representative seat. It is highly very despicable that
somebody who should be hiding his head in shame for committing an
atrocious crime of money laundering for Governor Ohakim now has the
audacity to imagine and dream of contesting for a political post
after laundering State funds stolen by Ikedi Ohakim. This will never
happen in Imo State. My facts which are in protective custody are
unchallengeable, though I have already exposed the Part One of the
money laundering episode in so many Newspapers, magazines and the
internet. Apart from money laundering Mr. Chikwem Onuoha is also a
known fraudster. SLAP Initiative has already used its contacts to link
up with white men he duped. We are in a position to bring these white
men to Nigeria to show them Mr. Chikwem Onuoha. Mr. Chikwem Onuoha
should be in jail instead of thinking of contesting for an election.
IF Chikwem ONUOHA is allowed to contest election, it means I am wrong in the allegations against him.
When leaders defecate openly in broad day light, what do you do? Of
course you reject them. I need not say more.
