KANO POLITICS: A SCENE OF THE IMPOSTORS, PUPPETS AND PUPPIES By Magaji Idris
Kano politicking has been characterized by impostors, puppets and puppies or even swine for most of this fourth republic, which is now best described as politics of twilight, or end of supremacy of the sanctimonious, impostors, who are now engrossed in fretting and kicking of a dying hound/swine.
Kano politics is now replete with impostors, puppets, puppies and the would be renegades when the paraphernalia and revelries of power ended, like the erstwhile D.G protocol, erstwhile Commissioner for Agriculture and erstwhile D.G Kano Liaison Office in Lagos, who all turned Judases to their former master governor Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya when the revelries ended. In the aftermath of an after-thought, we may come to find some of our ilk as a lesson learnt from the point of view of Sheikh Nasir, Chief Imam of Fagge Juma’at Mosque in 2008: “Kano bata son goya danta”.
We must disabuse Kano from being a proverbial entrepot/warehouse that your affinity and closeness to it does not preclude you from starving and famine. Kano, which behaves like a flirty woman, flirts with every impostor and juggler of religion she meets with, and contemptuously ignoring the natives and its thorough-bred sons of the soil. Most people were adamant to serve in the sanctimonious, impostor government of the day because of the CYCLOPS POLYPHEMUS- like unwanted behavior of the overseer and his henchmen.
Kano politics always leave the masses in the lurch. Rearing, kicking, act of betrayal and depriving the masses from enjoying the noted prosperity and richness of wealth of the state, thus the state has one of the largest concentration of poverty stricken and disease-ridden people in Nigeria. But few cabal/clique members of the “snooker club” were enjoying the prosperity at the expense of the actual masses that were hoisted from the ground and let down half way with a jerk.
Sure tax payers’/masses’ monies are always used to woo some fickle, noisy, eloquent demagogues and recycled opportunistic politicians to switch over to the greener party that has government in the state and recklessly the prodigal overseers overly buying themselves fame and chieftaincy titles of Sardauna. Who cares with even the original Sardauna? Only his boys who have been polluting the North with their caviar to the general idiosyncrasies. Sardauna is now an anachronism and a dead monument because he is always praised by his bad boys, and as evil doers, they will not praise good and moral behaviour, even if they do, they are just pretending.
Sanctimonious and juggler of religion on the scent of evil will perpetrate in any villainy in the name of God. They first appear as giant moralists then later as pigmies/pigs the filthiest. Such miniature people will despoil others the more with their dark deeds; casanova/pederast complex and snob appeals. The original Sardauna succeeded in dethroning the finger that rescued and fed him-SirMuhammaduSanusi, avenerated ruler, and that was a dark history to the Kanawas. The Sardauna boys model themselves upon their godfather who left them a legacy of evil deeds not his other moral/good deeds-if there was any in Kano State. Even if there was no Sardauna; some more good Samaritans, principled ideologues, chivalrous knights and God sent charismatic leadership might come up for our sovereignty, independence, education, socialization and development not those who pretended to behave morally but are mere bugs of promiscuity and unglamorous deeds.
Most of their integrity is open to doubt just like the leader of integrity group in theNationalAssembly, who is very complacent, penurious, cavalier, misanthrope thus he did not even win his third term election but bribed his way to obtain the INECCertificate. This betrays that his integrity is his diminutiveness/smallness in miniature.
Despite its avatar proclamation the government of the day could be synonymous with the pretender Musaylamattul Kazzab piety, who proclaimed prophethood, and had his pocket of followers from his Banu-Hannifa sect/tribe, whom were beset with saline water in the only deep well on which they relied upon for water supply. The dwellers craved for the pretender to invoke for the desalination of the hard water, and the pretender did as they requested. And before you could say; Jack Robinson, the deep well dried off. Disgrace/humiliation is a repercussion/nemesis, or an albatross that hangs upon the necks of all pretenders, impostors and those lying under an oath.
- Impostor is someone who pretends to be someone else in order to trick people, so he pretends to be pious, religious and God fearing but (at the bottom of his mind) he transcends the Devil vices, cryptically. “And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah”.
- Puppets, person or organization that allows other people to control them and make their decision. A puppet leader is a leader who is teleguided and misguided but has no guts and courage to wrench free. Apart from AbubakarRimi and Rabi’uKwankwaso most of the civilian governors of Kano state were just mere puppets, dancing to the tune of the Apotheoses.
- Puppies-young dogs that engrossed in bootlicking the malefactor politicians and are steadily turned into the juggernaut of poverty and political thuggery, while the bewitching cupids, the anointed ones are made catamites, and as a fig leaf some are made advisers and personal assistants.
The present crop of Kano politicians give us a verisimilitude scenario of what is described in the Appendix III (p.409) in the Book titled: Maitama Sule Dan Masanin Kano, written by AyubaI. Abubakar which brings into focus the Ten (10) proclamations in the extraordinary orders of the day declared in the North by (renegade?) Chukuma Nzeogwu, which firstly reads:
- “You are hereby warned that looting, arson, homosexuality, rape, embezzlement, bribery or corruption, etc. are all offences punishable by death.”
- Samuel Butler who wrote in the framework of an imaginary country, in which he invented the country “Erewhon”-No where, he attacked the self-satisfaction of his fellow men and their placid acceptance of ideas and institutions which in his opinion had become outworn and obsolete. In “Erewhon”, a man caught burgling a house, was sent to hospital; his friends brought fruits and flowers and made kind inquiries about his moral progress.
- Another food for thought is: “Man nature is Evil”. An essay by Hsun-tzu, as if he was referring to the nature of Nigerian man/leadership.
- There are heroes in evil as well as in good but the Nigerian heroes/leadership have always been in the evil side. No vestiges of beginning, or prospect of an end.
- Lastly, to those impostors, puppets and puppies of Kano politics stop to ponder over this; history is not made by kings, governors, or presidents but by ordinary people doing extraordinary things. So coronation of a king, chieftaincy titles holder, or inauguration of a governor, or a president will not be most impressive thing. The most impressive that will stun us will be a scenario where an Igbo man giving a safe haven/sanctuary to the trapped Hausa couples in the Jos unprovoked genocide, or an old Moslem woman giving up her place/room so that a Christian mother and her child could escape certain death, or the dignity with which an ordinary family confronted and endured the man made poverty and hunger in Nigeria, but not the ungodly glamorous coronation of any malefactor politician, or a pederastic-genotype blue blooded specie, or any Rabeh’s drop - out and Sardauna’s convert but now turned a parvenu, lured and swindled of the tax payers’ monies by the insatiable, self-discontented royalty.
- Point of reference: Examples of peculation, embezzlement and plundering of kano riches and wealth by non indigene, especially Bornoans/Bornueses started in (1421-1438) when Dagaci Othman Kalmana (a deposed Kanuri prince) administered Kano for five months in Sarki Dauda’s absence. Dagaci Othman Kalmana peculated and plundered kano’s riches and wealth, and became most richest and wealthiest only in five months. What do we expect from the impostor, who spends eight years reigning and was entrusted with billions upon billions of Kano’s monies and wealth? Their dark deeds are as ugly as August/sin.
- Governor Shekarau, it is very much apropos to leave the masses in the lurch. But remember that chieftaincy titles and honourary degrees are lures used by the insatiable, self-discontented royalty and corrupt academicians in Nigeria.
- “Ga wasu sun chanza alkawari sai rantsuwa suke ga banza” – late Dankwairo.
