BENIZIR ALI BHUTTO: BRUTAL ASSASINATION OF A MODERNIST
The recent brutal assasination of the Pakistanian
strong opposition leader, Mrs. Benizir Ali Bhutto
brought a lot of questions to the Pakistan democracy.
Benizir is an advocate of democratic governance and
her party the Pakistan People Party(ppp) is a party
that its policies thrive on having good governance
through democratic norms.
Bhutto is a good modernist to the core, and it is
because of that, that the Pakistan people voted her
into office twice as the Prime Minister of Pakistan
before, she was ousted and Navif Sharif found himself
in the saddle, before he too was ousted through a coup
by the Military and Pevef Musharraf as the then Army
Chief was made the Head of the government of the
country.
Benizir Bhutto went on self imposed exile to Britain
before finally settled down in Dubai with her husband.
When, the country want to transformed to the civillian
rule under Musharraf, the corruption charges placed on
her by the government of Musharraf was lifted and the
government of President Musharraf entered into a kind
of special deal with her under a power sharing
formula.
It is later, that Mrs. Benizir Bhutto find it possible
that her to be recognises and at the same time, play a
very formidable in the scheme of things in Pakistan,
she opted tgo returned to the country and even vow to
contest for election once again under her strong
political party against all the advices on the
security of her life.
Infact, on her first day of return to Pakistan the
signal, that her life is in great danger was shown
right in front of the world, when a bomb was denoted
by a terrorist that about two hundred people were
killed or maimed as a result of bomb.
Benizir, when asked in an interview with the CNN last
two months about the inherent dangers, which if, care
is not well taken would claim her life said" it is a
risk that I have to take even with my life in order to
see, that the children of Pakistan has a bright
future"
It only take a couregeous woman and one, who is brave
like Benizir Bhutto to ventured into the murky waters
of the Pakistanian politics and a country, that was
infiltrated by Al-Queeda and Taliban.
No doubt, that Benizir and the Bhutto political
dynasty would continued to be a force to recknoned
with in the political land scape of Pakistan for a
very long to come.
As a brave woman, Benizir took it upon her self to see
that, modernization take place in Pakistan. And
because of the conviction and belief she had, that
Pakistan and its people need to tow along that line
made to leave the place, she was on self imposed exile
to come back home and at the same time, gingered up
her teeming supporters in Pakistan.
Benizir Bhutto is a great woman, that has taken hard
way in her crusade to see that dictotorship is wipe
out in Pakistan and the proper place for the military
is to remain in the barracks and out of governance of
Pakistan, that has population of nearly one hundred
and seventy million people.
There is no disputing the fact, that the hardliners
and the exremists, does not want to see Benizir as the
next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
It is because of this, that they went on prowl, to see
that she does not become the next Prime Minister of
Pakistan and subsequently launched a severe manhunt
for her untill, she was gunned down.
Even the government of President Musharraf has no help
matters, for the fact, that the government show
lackadaisical attitude towards her security as the
security, she ought to get from the government as
former Prime Minister of the country was not extended
to her.
The re4quest, she made to the government of Musharraf
for the use of Germans and the use of bullet proof and
tinted vehicle was not granted to her by the
government.
Nevertheless, Benizir while alive, proved to all that
she is a great reformist, modernist that is just out
to see Pakistan on threshold of progress,
transformation and modernization of the people and the
country as a whole.
Mrs. Benizir die as a martyr, who is bend in seeing
that, democracy and the rule of law was firmly rooted
in Pakistan. Adieu Benizir the modernist of Pakistan.
May ALLAH in his infinite mercy bless her soul and
give the family, the fortitude to bear the loss. Amin.
