Dutse Capital Development Authority (DCDA) was established nine years ago by then administration of Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki now a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an organization with the responsibility to carter for all the developmental projects in the state capital within 15klm radius in term of any available and providing infrastructures, sanitation, development control as well as it is the custodian of the state capital Dutse master plan.
Alhaji Bashir Aminu Suleiman (Yariman Dutse) was pioneer chairman of DCDA by the immediate past government for three consecutive months after different personalities governed the authority, when Alhaji Sule Lamido assumed the mantle leadership as the elected governor of the New-World called Jigawa he confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Bashir Aminu as the substantive executive chairman of the Authority.
Governor Sule Lamido in his inaugural speech pledged to make all his appointment base on merit and competency, this has proved to the people that the appointment of Yariman Dutse to head DCDA is undoubtful to any thinking and progressive indigene of the state as a well deserved and merit among other appointments done by the governor of the masses.
DCDA had before the coming of the present government faced with a lot of problems which included serious problems in the area of sanitation, lack of drainages and culvert, uncontrollable flood, dearth of enabling facilities such as markets, roads, street lights and portable drinking water, inadequate accommodations for the state civil servants to live in with their families. Before the emergence of the present government of Sule Lamido 70% of the Civil servants are on daily basis shuttling from Kano-Dutse. But all these menace have become a history in the state.
With the coming of the present government on board under the able leadership of an amiable and trusted governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, DCDA lead by a dedicated and hardworking in the person of Alhaji Bashir Aminu whose major concern is for his mission to reach final result as such he used all his available initiatives to find ways of developing the state capital through the support of Governor Sule Lamido who pledged to transform Jigawa state into a befitting entity in the near future.
Presently the state government under the supervision of DCDA was able to have constructed 900 housing units, 500 are of 2-3 bedrooms apartments which were completed and allocated to the state’s workers at Danmasara in the city capital and the remaining 400 are under construction at Shuwarin road. A part from this, an investor with MOU has come to construct 1000 housing units of which under the arrangement the state government will provide the land while the investor will under take the construction works as well as sold it to the public on owner occupier bases.
The idea of these initiatives and good gesture by Governor Sule Lamido’s government according to the executive chairman of DCDA was to make accommodation sufficient for the state’s workers and other interested citizens of the state. Another area which the government attached priority is in the area of road constructions as currently about seven township roads are under going construction by a reputable firms like Dantata and Sawoe, Triacta among others.
It is also pertinent to know that all the roads been constructed are with drainages system in both right and left hand sides as well as street lights and the roads in question are the estate roads and the one leading to the state house, Dutse with other numerous roads to mention but a few. “DCDA has achieved a lot and we are still working hard in that perspective, our target and mission is to make Dutse as one of the best cities in Nigeria”. Yariman Dutse maintained.
The Authority with full support of Lamido’s government was also able to undertake the construction of 20klm estate roads in Danmasara and Shuwarin Housing Estates with work have already been completed. Also electrification and water projects are not left behind in the housing estate and at the same vein the state government is making concerted effort to provide water and roads at the proposed mechanics village and the wood market apart from multi-billion naira modern market with about 5,000 stalls/stores, when completed will be given to interested individuals to operate their businesses.
The Authority has built some modern bus stops in different locations with six public toilets and five corner shops of four stores each at various places in the state capital Dutse these include Gida Dubu, Takur, Shuwarin 744 housing estate among others. Also mini parks are under construction as well as provision of streetlight at three star hotel, state secretariat, assembly complex, judiciary and other important places aimed at beautifying and sanitizing the capital city of Jigawa, Dutse.
According to Alhaji Bashir Aminu, the state government is making all the necessary arrangement with the authority to do things according to the master plan of Dutse as the state capital as anything that will temper with the master plan will not be entertained. This has made the DCDA to seek for the full support of the citizens in contributing their quota to the development of the city through providing alternative places for them to operate their businesses especially for those who occupied illegal structures or places where the master plan falls. As you know this government is the government of the people so you don’t just force people like that, you have to make an alternative arrangement for them.
The present government in its efforts to provide conducive atmosphere to its civil servants has awarded contract for the construction of modern state secretariat to AG Ferero that will accommodate 12 ministries, SSG and Head of Service offices respectively. Other areas supervised by DCDA include the Aminu Kano Square, High court complex and civil service training institute.
Dutse the Jigawa state capital in the next couple of years under Governor Sule Lamido will surely be a mini Mecca of some thought especially with the level of physical development in progress. Lamido, as they both concerned is destined to make history by providing succors to those who felt Dutse, the Jigawa State Capital is not habitable to them for lack of adequate accommodation.
