The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’adu Abubakar III, (Sarkin Musulmai) and the ArchBishop of the Catholic Arch-Diocess of Abuja, Most Rev. John Onaiyekan and thirteen state Governors from all the six Nigerian geopolitical zones are expected as participants at a two day inter-religious conference this weekend in Los Angeles, California to deliberate of incessant religious crisis in Nigeria.
The forum, organized by the Zumunta “Unity” Association based in the United States would focus on the root cause of religious riots in Nigeria and options to available for the purpose of putting a lasting stop to the malaise.
The President of the Association, Mallam Salisu Abdullahi told Pointblanknews.com that the organization is most worried that out of ignorance, people have engaged in the killing of one another in the name of religion.
According to him “we are all one people, one nation and our desire in Zumunta which means unity in Hausa, a language spoken across several countries in West Africa, is to maintain one Nigeria irrespective of religious differences.”
He said while the convention will also focus on how to educate people about HIV/AIDS, it would fashion a modality through the Arewa Consultative Forum, to take care of or possibly eradicate the growing army of beggars especially from on Nigerian streets.
